Kiongozi in Light

Kiongozi (Swahili for guide) is your assistant inside SBB Light. Ask it about your business in your own words and it looks the answer up in your books before replying — every figure it gives comes from your actual records. Tell it what happened and it drafts the entry for you to confirm.

Opening Kiongozi

  • Kiongozi in the top bar, or Ctrl+J (⌘+J on a Mac).
  • On a phone, Kiongozi in the bar along the bottom — or, if you installed the app, press and hold the SBB icon and choose Ask Kiongozi.
  • The Ask Kiongozi box on your home.
  • Search (Ctrl+K) — type your question and choose Ask Kiongozi.
  • Explain on Reports and Restock advice on Products.

What you can ask

How the business is doing

  • "How is business this month compared with last month?"
  • "What did I spend most on in the last 30 days?"
  • "Show my sales by day this week."
  • "What needs my attention today?"

Money owed and customers

  • "Who owes me money, and how much is overdue?"
  • "Who are my best customers?"
  • "What does Pearl Events owe?"

Stock

  • "What is running low?" · "Which products have the best margin?" · "What is my stock worth?"

Finding entries

  • "Find my fuel payments over 50k last month."
  • "What were my five largest expenses this quarter?"

Deeper analysis (owners and those who see the whole business)

  • Profit and loss, cash flow, twelve-month trends, gross margin, revenue by product, invoice aging, tax estimates, cash flow forecasts and a business health score.
  • What-if questions: "What happens to my profit if I raise prices by 10%?"

How to use SBB

  • "How do I import my products?" — answered from the official guides, with a link to the guide it used.

Ask in English, Swahili, Luganda or the language you think in — it answers in the same language.

Letting Kiongozi record things for you

Say what happened:

  • "I paid 45k for fuel in cash today."
  • "Invoice Pearl Events for 2 cases of Bell Lager at 72k each, due in 7 days."
  • "Kampala Events paid 500k on their invoice into mobile money."
  • "Add a customer called Grace Nakimuli, 0772 123 456."

Kiongozi works out the category, the account, the customer and the amount, and shows a card with exactly what it will record. Nothing is saved until you press Confirm.

  • If something is unclear — no category called Fuel, two customers with similar names — it asks you which one, rather than guessing.
  • If you have several cash tills and just said "cash", it uses your main cash account and says so on the card, so you can correct it before confirming.
  • Prices on an invoice come from your catalogue when a line matches a product; otherwise it uses the price you gave.
  • Not now dismisses a card.

After you confirm

The card turns green with Confirmed and what was recorded, and an Open link to it. A confirmed card stays confirmed — after a refresh, tomorrow, or on another device — and pressing Confirm twice never records twice.

Undo on a confirmed entry voids it and takes it back out of your balances and books. On an invoice it voids the invoice. (A recorded invoice payment is reversed from the invoice itself.)

Only the business owner can confirm or undo Kiongozi's changes. Others see the card with a note saying so.

Your conversations

  • New starts a fresh conversation.
  • Chats lists your recent conversations — open one to carry on, or delete it. Deleting a chat never touches anything it recorded.
  • Your conversation is still there when you move between pages or come back later.
  • Copy under an answer copies it.
  • Tables Kiongozi builds — a spending breakdown, a report — appear under its answer, and links take you to the page behind the numbers.
  • Under each answer, Checked: shows what it looked at, and how long it took.

Full screen and voice

  • On a computer, the full screen button beside Close gives Kiongozi the whole window, in a comfortable reading column. It remembers your choice.
  • The microphone in the question box lets you speak your question, in browsers that support it (such as Chrome and Edge).

If Kiongozi is busy

Kiongozi never leaves you waiting indefinitely. If its AI takes too long or is unavailable, it answers the common questions — sales, spending, who owes you, stock, balances, what needs attention — straight from your books, and says that it did. The answer is plainer, but the numbers are the same.

Privacy and accuracy

  • Kiongozi sees only what you can see. If you are assigned to one branch, it answers about that branch only.
  • Amounts in different currencies are never added together.
  • Dates such as "last month" are worked out in your business's own time zone, and sums are calculated exactly, not estimated.
  • It remembers lasting facts you tell it about your business ("rent is due on the 5th").
